Dear Google, we should talk about inclusivity and business.

I understand that there are still a lot (A LOT, a lot) of locations, businesses, and people, that don’t fully grasp the scope of the LGBTQ+ community (if they grasp it at all).

Some folks are just lacking information. Some are a little ‘behind the times’. Others…well, we see you.

It’s 2020. Google and Disney own our lives. A direct to TV movie just won an Oscar, and there are more than just Gays and Lesbians that deserve representation in the business community.

Now, are you asking, “why does this make you mad at Google, aren’t they a giant, progressive, diverse, inclusive, forward-thinking company?”

Right?!
So, today I logged in to update our business listing on Google, (We got a new phone number! 509-402-INBA) and I saw that our business ‘category’ was listed at ‘Gay and Lesbian Organization’. I thought to myself, “well, that’s just not super inclusive, I’ll update it.”

I’ll just update it….

I’ll just….

Wait…

whaaaat…

….I wonder what the ratio of lesbian owned businesses to Serbian Restaurants on Google is…

gas. cylinders. supplier.

We are an LGBTQ+ Organization. We are here for all. We serve all. Whether you’re looking for a Basque Restaurant, a Messianic Synagogue, or your local highway patrol, we are here to help you find places that are welcoming, affirming, and empowering.

As for Google…. we need more options. Please.

ps. The closest Basque Restaurant is only about 6-7 hours away from Spokane.
