Great outreach at Unity in the Community despite one bad apple.
DSCN1180_Unity2
Board member Donna Sellers stayed busy during the last shift creating creating silly Unity name tags.

INBA participated in last weekend’s Unity In The Community, the region’s largest multi-cultral celebration that also celebrates all diversity. In years past, INBA received very few visitors at the booth but this year a name spinner was added to create silly and fun Unity names for kids and adults which kept the booth busy all the way to the end. The great response to our booth activity allowed board members to distribute business directories and talk to people about INBA’s work in the Spokane business community.

Despite the large number of people visiting the booth and mostly positive responses to the outreach, one man was very opposed to INBA’s presence when he found out the meaning of LGBT. INBA General Manager, Marvo Reguindin noted “It’s disappointing to hear that someone did not like having INBA or the LGBT community represented at a community event that celebrates diversity, but it shows that there are still hearts and minds that need to change.”

Other INBA members with booths at Unity in the Community were, Spokane AIDS Network, Planned Parenthood, PFLAG and Odyssey Youth Movement.

INBA will have community outreach booths at the Spokane AIDS Walk and Valleyfest, both on September 26th.
