Last Saturday, volunteers connected with residents of Spokane Valley on behalf of Inland Northwest Business Alliance. Support for INBA was overwhelmingly positive as board members and volunteers passed out business directories and created over 700 “silly nametags.”

The positive sentiment from Spokane Valley residents is a welcome change from a more negative attitude towards the LGBT community’s presence during ValleyFest’s early years. OutSpokane and PFLAG have been attending ValleyFest or many years, while this marks INBA’s second appearance at the massive community event.

Teenagers and kids loved INBA’s “silly name wheel,” with ridiculous name combinations including a “Miss Glittery Kitty.” Sierra Vanderhoogt brought 550 nametags, and ended up using rainbow duct tape for the remainder of the day.
