Spokane’s relative isolation from other major metropolitan centers offered a great opportunity for Aezy to get started with a digital marketing firm at a time when there were few options for local businesses to access online advertising. Yet, it has also proven challenging to attract and retain great people with prior digital marketing experience, as they tend to gravitate towards larger markets. Making Spokane more attractive to high-skilled technology workers will help drive overall prosperity in the region, and it starts with one key ingredient: inclusiveness. “We are faced with ethical challenges on a very regular basis. Our campaigns have the ability to reach billions of people and potentially influence how people make decisions about where to shop, who to vote for, and more. Sometimes we are asked to help broadcast ideas we simply don’t support personally. Over the years we’ve made some decisions we are very proud of, and some that we regret. It is easy to say “we’re just the messenger” but when we get to decide who’s message we’re delivering we become complicit in their intentions.”
