INBA Board signs Amicus Brief - Whole Women's Health v. Cole

This brief support of the Texas-based case, Whole Women’s Health v. Cole. The case seeks to challenge restrictions on women’s health clinics passed by the Texas legislature. This case truly has historic implications for women across the country, and is also important for the LGBT community.  Reproductive freedom is integral to the right to privacy, and historically reproductive freedom cases have been the rationale for upholding LGBT privacy rights.

The INBA Board of Directors voted to join with our sister chamber, Greater Seattle Business Association to support signing onto this brief. Briefs will be submitted to the Court on January 4th. Supporting everyone’s right to make decisions about their own bodies has always been central to LGBT civil rights. These attacks on women’s health are being waged for the same reasons and by the same people who oppose LGBT civil rights, public accommodations and legal protections. Supporting a woman’s right to choose has always been a part of INBA’s mission, and we urge all of our members to sign on as well.

A draft of the brief is available for interested signers.  Amy Mello is happy to discuss this opportunity and the brief further with you. Please feel free to contact her at AMello@reprorights.org or call 401-683-8183.

We are invite all businesses, business organizations, and individual leaders to join the Business Leaders Amicus Brief that will be submitted to the US Supreme Court.
