Brian Meyers of Empire Health Foundation will be speaking about the social determinants of health, the everyday things and conditions that affect our health throughout our lifetime.
Social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. They include factors like socioeconomic status, education, the physical environment, employment, and social support networks, as well as access to health care.
Everyone deserves an equal opportunity to make the choices that lead to good health. But to ensure that all members of our community have that opportunity, advances are needed not only in health care but also in access to social and economic opportunities; the resources and supports available in our homes, neighborhoods, and communities; the quality of our schooling; the safety of our workplaces; the cleanliness of our water, food, and air; and the nature of our social interactions and relationships.
Please RSVP for lunch as seating may be limited on the day of the event.
