Jim Maxwell, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Rockwood Retirement Communities of Spokane

LeadingAge has selected Jim Maxwell, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Rockwood Retirement Communities of Spokane, Washington, as a member of its 2016 Leadership Academy program. Jim has been strategic in helping Rockwood to keep solid footing in the recent turbulent markets allowing the soon-to-open expansion of its South Hill campus to come to fruition. Jim is looking forward to furthering his leadership skills through this program and the opportunity to connect with other aging-services professionals.

I believe the Leadership Academy will enhance my potential and leadership abilities. The perspective and knowledge I hope to acquire as a result of my participation in the Leadership Academy includes having the opportunity to get a broader view of operations and how things could be done.  Being a part of the Academy will allow me to meet others in the industry, expand my views, and my knowledge.  It will also be an opportunity for me to share my knowledge and skills I have with other, and potentially learn how to utilize my strengths.”

The Leadership Academy is a year-long leadership program designed to strengthen not-for-profit leadership in aging services. The program provides a challenging and engaging learning environment that enhances the leadership capacity of aging-services professionals so they are better equipped to serve our field.

“The Academy is built on the power of collaboration and community to develop the innovative, person-directed programs our elders deserve,” LeadingAge president and CEO Larry Minnix said, “Together, these individuals will learn valuable leadership skills that will help their organizations offer seniors the services they need, when they need them, in a place they can call home.”

Fellows will meet throughout the year to explore diverse perspectives from aging services leaders, learn from innovative care and service models, enhance their leadership skills and core competencies, and advance person-centered programming in aging services.
