.lgbt - The Internet's first domain address specifically dedicated to the LGBT community

dot-lgbtWeb addresses ending in “.lgbt” are now available for registration to anyone. Open registration for individuals and businesses looking to immediately identify with the LGBT community began this week with the new top-level domain. Top-level domains (TLD), such as the classic ‘.net’ or ‘.org’ are becoming increasingly diverse. The web suffixes have been traditionally used to identify the type of website and its geographic location, varying by organization and country of origin. Although many American users would be hard-pressed to identify many of the available TLD’s, the widely recognized and most commonly preferred acronym representing the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community speaks for itself.

According to get.lgbt, the home website for information and registration of .lgbt domains, “.LGBT is the internet address that will naturally be most appealing to this diverse audience!”

An Acceptable Use Policy has been put into place that supports LGBT-friendly use of the domain and provides the ability for .lgbt  to remove any sites that may be in violation, ensuring .lgbt remains an asset to the community.
