Texas Businesses Sign Pledge for Equality

final_texas competesSeveral Houston, TX businesses signed a pledge stating that they “must have workplaces and communities that are diverse and welcoming for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. The pledge, presented by Texas Competes, a partnership of businesses that support LGBT people in business, has been signed by 250 companies and 125 new companies since the pledge’s launch in April 2015.

According to Texas Competes, businesses lead major pushback against controversial policies in Indiana and Arkansas earlier this year. Resistance to discriminatory policies has lead influential businesses like the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee, Southwest Airlines, and Texas Instruments, among many others, to publicly declare their support for the LGBT Community.

Texas has two LGBT chambers in Dallas and San Antonio that has been promoting LGBT business equality. INBA is affiliated and has close leadership contacts with both Texas chambers.
